Hello IDS students,

We hope this email finds you well and you are taking care of yourselves during this busy time of the semester. The IDSSA has a few announcements to share with you:

1. Going forward, we will use the IDS student listserv to share and promote our events and programming. Please add idssa.utsc@gmail.com to your ‘safe senders’ list to avoid receiving our emails in your junk folder and not miss out on getting involved with us!

2. Check out our October Newsletter. It is the first IDSSA newsletter, and we are so happy and excited to launch it this year as part of our programming and initiatives! We will send a monthly newsletter containing a recap of the past month, our upcoming events, and a few Internship and Volunteer opportunities. The PDF version of the October newsletter is attached to this email and can be found on our linktree and Instagram.

3. Upcoming event:
We will be hosting our first Global Gossip for the year. This is YOUR chance to exchange your ideas, thoughts, and opinions with other IDS students! This first session will discuss “Western Media Discourses under Neocolonialism and Neoliberalism”. Specifically, we aim to critically analyze how pro-Western issues are manifested by the media and how this impacts our opinions on various social issues relevant today. OPEN TO ALL STUDENTS!

Date: Tuesday, November 7th, 2023
Time: 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Location: Charles Brown Lounge (4th Floor of Highland Hall)

We hope to see you all there!
